Herefordshire is connected by train to most parts of Great Britain. There are trains from Hereford, Ledbury and Colwall to Oxford, London and Birmingham and from Hereford and Leominster to Manchester, Cardiff and North and West Wales. Other places can be reached by changing trains. Times of trains in and from Herefordshire are included in the Bus and Rail Timetable books produced by Herefordshire Council and on sale in libraries and tourist information centres.
The British railway network is operated by a number of different private companies, but it is still possible to buy through tickets to anywhere in the country and most tickets (except certain special offers) can be used on all companies' trains.
Trains are more expensive than buses or coaches - and can be very expensive for journeys to London at business travel times - but it is often possible to save money by travelling at quieter times and by buying tickets in advance, especially if you are willing to travel on nominated trains only.
Timetable and fare enquiries can be made by telephone on 08457 484950 or via the internet by visitinghttp://www.nationalrail.co.uk/
